| Fontana Military Banner Program Scope of Program The program is designed to support, recognize and express appreciation to individuals and their families by individuals, family members, residents, organizations or business owners of the City of Fontana community, for those who;
1. Are currently active in the US Military service serving overseas. 2. Have given their lives in service overseas during the most recent military actions.
The program will display a banner that will list his/her name and branch of service. The banner will be proudly displayed on a major thoroughfare with the City of Fontana. Program cost will be sustained by donations only. It is strategic alliance and collaboration between the City of Fontana, the American Legion and the Fontana Chamber of Commerce. Criteria for Qualification Any individual may be recommended for a banner display by completing the Military Banner Recognition Application. See Attachment I. The following is a general criteria or guideline for those individuals who may qualify for display on a banner; -
They must currently be on active duty serving on overseas duty with any branch of the US Military services. -
They are a resident, family member or relative of a resident of the City of Fontana. -
They are or were a resident of the City of Fontana during their ages of 1 through 21 years old. Application Process, Verification and Approval It will be the responsibility of the American Legion to verify the information provided with the contact person on application and/or a local family members if applicable. All applications should be forwarded to the American Legion Post 262 via mail to 15840 Foothill Blvd. Fontana, CA 92335 or via email at adjutant@calegionpost262.org.
The application will be reviewed for accuracy and the information verified with the persons above for final approval by the American Legion to the best of their abilities. Banner Display and Placement Upon approval and submission of information to the City of Fontana, by the American Legion, the city will order banner and determine location of display. The banner size will be approximately 18’’ x 36 ’’. The city will be responsible for hanging, hardware required and ongoing maintenance of the banner throughout the complete period of banner deployment. Initially a minimum order of banners will be required for original group deployment. Subsequent orders will also require a minimum number to ensure cost effectiveness of individual banners. The city will request funds to cover cost of banners from the chamber prior to ordering and to insure appropriate funds are available. Fund requests will be completed within one week once original request is made and available funds are concurred by the chamber. Banner Program Donations All amounts and donations are welcome by the public and business communities with in, but not limited to, the City of Fontana. Donations should be made payable to the Fontana Chamber of Commerce. Forms of payment may be check, credit card VISA & MC and/or cash. Donations should be mailed to 8491 Sierra Avenue and should refer to Banner program on check or letter or you may contact the chamber directly at (909) 822-4433 for Credit Card payment.
Donation Amounts: General Donor $1 to $299 Banner Donor $300 Donor Name on Banner Business Donor $500 Business Name on Banner/Website Corporate Donor $750 Corporation Name on Banner/Website Organization Donor $1,000 Organization Name on Banner/Website Freedom Donor $2,000 and up Lifetime Program Member/Website Display Period and Timeframe The banner will display as long as the individual is on active duty serving overseas. Annually the original person who submitted application will be mailed a letter by the City in order to gain current status of individual. Individuals who have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives in service will be displayed until duration of all military actions discontinues or as deemed appropriate by the city. Those who have given their lives will display a gold star all other will be blue. Upon completion of service an effort to present the banner to the immediate family member, individual whom application was submitted or application submitter will be made. Website A website will be developed by the city with the following program information defined in this proposal as well as an application for program. Each strategic partner will provide a link access on their individual website to the city Military Banner Program website. In addition to information a list of major Banner Program Donors will be maintained on website as well. Marketing/Advertising All marketing and advertising resources available to each strategic partner will be utilized where ever possible to help promote and educate the community about the program. The following will be included but not exclusive or limited to; Fontana Herald News, Fontana Business Journal, City of Fontana Quarterly, KFON, etc. |
